NPE Holiday Sale Ends Tonight

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Just want to make sure you don’t miss out on our NPE year-end sale.

http://www.NPEHolidaySale.com

It’s too good, the discounts too big.

30% on all products, up to 58% on special packages (like “The Whole Enchilada”).

In addition to the disc’ounts, you can also take advantage of EZ-pay installments.

And don’t forget, today’s the last day for ‘08 tax benefits (deductions) on business/personal development investments.

**SALE STATUS UPDATES**

AUTO-CLOSER and DEEP-CORE are moving briskly.

DUPLICATOR is a close third, followed by the Platform Selling Toolkit, Cash Flow Surge System and Physician’s Referral System.

But there’s a sleeper that may nudge it’s way into the mix…

And that’s Jan Champion’s Fitness Business Legal Forms product.

There’s no getting around the fact that we live in an overly litigious environment. Lawsuits are as commonplace as lattes now. And you need to take both defensive AND offensive steps to protect yourself.

Can you afford to risk everything you’ve worked so hard for if a clumsy client falls off an exercise ball and sues… OR one of your trainers walks out on you, taking your clients with him?

Especially when it’s all so preventable?

With Fit-Biz Owner/Lawyer-Extraordinaire Jan Champion’s Legal Forms you can put a titanium shield around your business immediately.

And you can do it on the cheap. Getting these forms on your own would cost you thousands, but you can have them right now for just $138 (a savings of almost sixty bucks).

You can find Jan’s Fitness Business Legal Forms Product in the “Management” section of the NPE Webstore.

Remember, the NPE Holiday Sale ends tonight at midnight:

Cheers,
Eric

The truth about my addiction. By Eric Ruth

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

I have a serious addiction. And I need to feed it almost daily. You may have the same need.

If so, lemme share my drug of choice with you…

>> INSPIRATION <<

To me, there’s nothing else like the feeling of being passionately inspired. It’s the most empowering emotion. I feel like I can be and do anything, that my potential is limitless.

And that feeling propels me into action.

How about you? Got the same addiction?

Yeah? Great.

Then I want to share some powerfully inspirational words with you right now.

But before I do, I also want to remind you to ACT on your inspiration. Don’t just enjoy the buzz. You need to channel that rush of adrenaline, serotonin and endorphin into movement that manifests tangible results. Because motion beats meditation every time.

This time of year is probably the most inspirational of all for many people. It is for me. The promise of a new year beginning, a new opportunity to set ambitious goals, do and be more, and more fully realize our potential, lies just hours away.

If you haven’t done so yet, spend a few hours today writing down your goals for 2009 and the action steps for achieving them.

And I’d like to make a suggestion here, if you don’t mind…

One of your biz goals MUST BE lead generation. Because lead generation marketing is THE activity, more so than any other, that can give you the personal and fin.an.cial freedom you want. Building a large, responsive “house list” of local people who know, like and trust you - and who will buy from you and refer to you - is the ultimate “difference-maker.” If I had to point to one thing that more radically changed my life than any other, it would be growing, nurturing and cultivating my list.

And nothing can help you do that - nothing can channel your inspiration and motivation into decisive and productive action better than our DEEP-CORE Fitness Marketing System. And until Midnight tonight, December 31, you can get DEEP-CORE at the lowest price it will ever be offered during our holiday sale:

http://www.NPEHolidaySale.com

Now, on to the inspirational words I promised you. Here are some of my favorite quotes, worthy of printing and posting to your office wall, your bathroom mirror and anywhere else you will see them every single day:

“Dream no small dreams, for they have no power to move the hearts of men.” - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

“Thought is the blossom; language teh bud; action the fruit behind it.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” - William Arthur Ward

“Let me tell you the secret that has led me to my goal. My strength lies solely in my tenacity.” - Louis Pasteur

“Goals provide the energy source that powers our lives. One of the best ways we can get the most from the energy we have is to focus it. That is what goals can do for us; concentrate our energy.” - Denis Waitley

“He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.” - Friedrich Nietzsche

“If you don’t know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else.” - Yogi Berra

“The major reason for setting a goal is for what it makes of YOU to accomplish it. What it makes of you will always be the far greater value than what you get.” - Jim Rohn

“You will become as great as your dominant aspiration.” - James Allen

“Man, alone, has the power to transform his thoughts into physical reality; man, alone, can dream and make his dreams come true.” - Napoleon Hill

“A minute’s success pays the failure of years.” - Robert Browning

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you never, ever have enough.” - Oprah Winfrey (yes…Oprah)

“Gratitude is the attitude that changes everything.” - Unknown

“Gratitude is what starts the receiving process.” - Jim Rohn

“The same thinking that has led you to where you are is not going to lead you to where you want to go.” - Albert Einstein

“Reduce your plan to writing…the moment you complete this, you will have definitely given concrete form to the intangible desire.” - Napoleon Hill

“The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we hit it.” - Michelangelo

“If you want to HAVE more, you first must BECOME more.” - Jim Rohn

I have many, many more, but this post would be too long. So let me leave you with one of my all-time favorite poems. One of my best friends, Matt McGuire, shared this poem with me back in that early 90’s. It inspired me so much I framed it and it hangs in my office:

INVICTUS
by William Ernest Henley

OUT of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

One of the personal qualities I pride myself on the most is my attitude of gratitude. Regardless of whatever negative emotions I may be experiencing, I can always set my head right by expressing the tremendous gratitude I have for all the blessings in my life. The list is LONG, including God, family, health, country, friends, Sean, Dick, Camelia and you. Thank you for being who you are, someone who seeks and works to be all you can be. I am grateful for you.

To your best year ever,
Eric Ruth

P.S. Celebrate tonight. Celebrate life, love, family and friends. And then get to work tomorrow creating everything you want and deserve.

P.P.S. Be inspired!

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

Don’t know if you’ve ventured out this weekend to take advantage of any of the after Christmas sales, but
around here the stores are all going crazy.

Lots of news reports that retailers fell below projections for the holiday sales, but if our local mall is any indication of what’s happening right now…

Christina and I just got back from heading out to exchange of couple things, and the stores around here are without a doubt MUCH busier than they were before Christmas.

Anyway, in the spirit of after Christmas sales we’re having our own year end sale here at NPE to celebrate a

A fun holiday video for you

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

Hope your holiday week is off to a great start.

If you live in the north east part of the US, then you’ve been getting pounded with snow and will certainly have ‘White Christmas’ this year.

Here in North Carolina, we’ve got no snow but at least some good cold weather for putting on a fire and making some hot cocoa.

I don’t know what holiday traditions you have, but at my house ours always include taking it easy and watching a couple fun Christmas movies.

The classic “A Christmas Story” movie is on every year with the kid who wants the Red Rider BB gun for Christmas and everyone tells him “you’ll shoot your eye out kid!”

Then there is the famous “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” movie made after the Dr. Zuess story (always a good one).

And my personal favorite “Scrooged” with Bill Murray, which is simply a modern day version of the Scrooge story with Bill Murray as a Network TV executive. What can I say, it’s Bill Murray and that guy is hilarious.

In the spirit of holiday movies, Eric, Dick, and I also worked on preparing a special video for you.

We dressed up in costumes and everything, hopefully you’ll get kick out of it.

The look on Eric’s face is priceless. :)

It’s online now with details on the holiday sale we’re having next week at:

http://www.NPEHolidaySale.com

Check it out and let me know what you think of our elf costumes! :)

To your success,

Sean

P.S. In all sincerity, I want to say ‘thank you’ for the tremendous year we’ve had here. In 2008 NPE has TRIPLED and we have you, our customers, to thank for that. It’s been a pleasure serving you and helping you achieve your personal and professional goals.

Happy holidays and we look forward to helping you make it an even bigger and better 2009.

The Secret To Selling Fitness

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

The secret to selling fitness is below, but first…

Sometimes I just get sick of trying to “keep up with the Joneses.”

Last spring, my neighbors Charles and Diana (their real names) built a 30X20 HUGE deck off the back of their house, overlooking the lake. Half of it is roofed and screened. They have a six-person hot tub below it.

Brandy kept commenting about how incredible it is - not so subtle hints.

So I cleaned out the garage.

Now she can park her SUV out of the rain.

Didn’t quite cut it.

Last week, we had a holiday lights competition in the neighborhood. Judges evaluated the houses on Saturday.

We didn’t win.

In fact, the judges asked me to remove the lights. Said they “were in bad taste.”

Here’s a picture of my neighborhood house that won the contest, and a picture of my “pitiful” attempt at keeping up with the Joneses.

Brandy was NOT happy about this…

Okay, it’s all in fun. The stories are somewhat true, but the pictures aren’t. I did a little bit better job of lighting our house than that. Little bit.

Now, read on for the secret to selling fitness…

SELLING IS EASY

(Excerpt from “Secret of Selling Anything” by Harry Browne - one of the greatest books ever written on sales)

Success in salesmanship depends upon factors quite different from the common conceptions. You don’t have to be a showman, an extrovert, forceful, flamboyant, domineering, tireless, single-minded, or even energetic.

But you do have to be sensitive, alert, imaginative, honest and a good listener.

If you look at the real world, just the way it is, you can see there are certain things you’ll have to recognize to succeed. None of these things is out of your reach. Let’s summarize them:

- You must recognize that every individual is already motivated. Every prospect has a multitude of hopes, aspirations, dreams, plans, goals and ideas. Don’t try to motivate him. Instead, discover his present motivation.

- Since every individual is different, there’s no way of knowing in advance what will make this prospect buy. Your job is to discover what it is that motivates this individual, and then offer your product/service in terms dictated by that motivation. The secret of salesmanship can be summed up in the simple rule: Find this prospects’s motivation and appeal to it.

- Never present your product/service until after you have discovered what motivates the prospect. There are literally hundreds of possible motivations to which your product/service might appeal. Don’t make the mistake of trying to outguess the prospect - it isn’t necessary. Wait until you’ve found out what he’d be willing to buy before trying to sell him anything.

- To increase your chances to make the sale, follow the five-step procedure:

1. Discover the prospect’s motivation. Ask leading questions that encourage the prospect to talk about those areas of his life or business that will reveal the motivations to which you can appeal. Take an interest in all relevant problems that face the prospect. He’s telling you how to make the sale.

2. Summarize the prospect’s motivation. Sum up the material presented to you in step one. Define the problem or summarize the objective so that you understand together what must be done to achieve his goals. In effect, you are confirming the qualifications you’ll have to meet to make the sale.

3. Present your solution. Now that you know what the prospect wants, you can present your product/service as the answer to that quest. Build your presentation around those matters (and only those matters) the buyer has said are important.

4. Answer questions. Handle any reservations or objections the prospect may have; make sure he fully understands the proposal and the way it will satisfy his motives. In handling objections, don’t try to overrule the prospect’s thinking. Instead, use the listen-agree-suggest technique.

5. Close the sale. You should never find yourself locked in a life-and-death struggle with the buyer when it comes time to close the sale. If you’ve done your job properly in the first four steps, you only have to encourage him now to do what he wants to do.

- Selling is easy if you don’t try to put anything over on the prospect. Think of yourself as a representative of the buyer as well as of your company. Look for motivations that will create a mutually profitable exchange between buyer and seller. Never think of yourself as someone who tries to “talk people into things.”

- Be honest at all times. Honesty is not a self-denying virtue. It’s on of the greatest assets a salesman can have. If you’re honest at all times, you can relax completely - knowing you have nothing to cover up. And your honesty will be recognized by many prospects who will then prefer to do business with you. In addition, there is an indefinable confidence that the honest person expresses that can never be impersonated fully.

- A salesperson’s field is communication. Your success depends upon your ability to understand your prospects and prescribe solutions to their problems. But the prospect’s solutions must be presented in terms that fit his motivations (not your motivations or opinions).

Most salespeople never learn that the essence of salesmanship is a two-way communication. Your success depends as much upon your ability to HEAR and UNDERSTAND as it does upon your ability to talk.

============END OF EXCERPT==========

This is the EXACT philosophy, and almost the exact methodology/process we teach in the AUTO-CLOSER Fitness Sales System. It is timeless, tested and proven, and the results are, to many, mind-blowing. If there is just ONE skill/system/”thing” you MUST master in order to achieve your goals and dreams for 2009, it is sales. Because nothing happens until something is sold.

From all of us here at NPE, we wish you a Happy Hanukkah and a Merry Christmas!

- Eric Ruth

Y.C.D.B.S.O.Y.A. gets you fitness clients fast

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

NOTE: This post is lengthy. But if you need or want new fitness clients fast, and you don’t want to pay anything to get them, I suggest you read it all now.

Not counting today, you’ve got 13 days til the New Year.

Let’s talk about a plan for capitalizing on the unique opportunity you get in January: The fitness and weight loss resolution rush.

Your plan starts with understanding this:

Y.C.D.B.S.O.Y.A.

It stands for…

You Can’t Do Business Sitting On Your Ass

I’m not making any assumptions about your gumption. I’m not implying you’re sitting on your ass watching Gilligan’s Island re-runs and eating bon-bons all day.

I know you WORK hard. Lemme show you how to MARKET hard…and smart.

Particularly now, in this crazy economy, you have to capitalize on EVERY opportunity.

Cause the winners in this game go all-in when the chips are down. They don’t fold. And times have changed over the past few months. The chips are down. So it’s time to go all-in. Here’s how…

Get in front of people, teach them stuff, motivate and inspire them, then ask for their business. Public speaking, presenting, talking, influencing. That’s your ticket to more clients, faster.

You know that. It’s nothing earth-shattering.

How To Get The Speaking Gigs

What you may not know - what most fit-pros struggle with - is finding opportunities to present. Good opportunities, good groups with a common interest to which you can cater a specific solution that resonates with the majority and compels them to action.

Here’s how to get those sweet opportunities:

http://www.MeetUp.com

This amazing web site lists hundreds of different groups right in your town that are formed around a common topic/interest.

Start at the home page by entering your zip code in the upper right search box. Don’t enter a topic/interest, just your zip - this will show you a listing of all groups in your area.

I entered my zip here in Raleigh, and then clicked on the topic/interest:

Health and Support

There are 77 Raleigh groups in this category (maybe more in your town).

Some examples:

- Raleigh Meditation: 339 members

I can’t think of anything that will help calm your body and mind and really tap into your ‘inner being’ or ‘align your shakras’ better than exercise and supportive nutrition. I could come up with a killer presentation that sells fitness services to these folks in 1 hour. What about you?

- Raleigh Divorce/Separation: 580 members

Feeling a little depressed or disconnected since your divorce/separation? Exercise is your elixir. Want to attract the man/woman of your dreams? Exercise is your aphrodesiac.

- Raleigh Therapist Group: 44 members

Can you say “referral network?” Go talk to these folks about how they should send clients your way so you can help them help their clients.

- Radical Health (Raw/Vegan): 193 members

Help them understand nutrition better. Show them how to get more protein in their diets and how it benefits them.

- Social anxiety, shyness and introverts: 126 members

They need confidence. Fitness gives it to them. HELP THEM.

Another category I clicked on:

Parenting and Family

There are 38 Raleigh groups in this category.

Some examples:

- Raleigh Single Parents: 335 members

I’d use a variation of the presenation created for the divorce/separation group above, or do something on how to be a role model for your kid (single parents already feel a bit of guilt about the situation and are even more motivated to be the best they can be for their children).

- New Parents: 118 members

Probably at least a couple moms who’d like to get rid of that baby fat, eh?

- Stay at Home Moms: 168 members

Your presentation could be on how, to be the best mom you can be, you’ve got to take care of you first. Or something like that. Talk to some stay at home moms and find out what they’re looking for, then cater your presenation to those hot buttons.

- Raleigh Family Fun Group: 141 members

The family that exercises together has fun together! Show ‘em how!

Shall I go on? Okay, one more…

Another category:

Business and Career

106 Raleigh groups in this category.

Examples:

- Raleigh Hispanic Professionals: 111 members

Are you hispanic? If so, you have an AFFINITY to this group (BIG point there, which applies to all these groups. If you are ONE OF THEM, you have almost immediate rapport.)

The thrust of your presentation to almost any group in this category is:

Times are tough. People are getting laid off. Jobs are harder to find. You’ve got to make yourself as desirable as possible if you want to move up in this hyper-competitive marketplace; find a great job; or just keep the one you’ve got. Exercise sharpens your look and your mind. It gives you the cofidence and the energy to compete, and win, at the highest level.

- Raleigh Entrepreneur Group: 347 members

Same theme as above, with a twist. For this group it’s not about getting/keeping a job, it’s about getting/keeping clients. Exercise and fitness makes you more confident, sharper looking and way more productive.

I’d go in there and offer them small group training with other entrepreneurs. Cause they always want to find more ways to network (that’s why they joined the meetup group).

Okay, I think you get the picture and I hope you found this helpful.

I also hope you didn’t take offense to my YCDBSOYA bit. I know the real ‘ballers’ (as Sean says) didn’t. Cause ballers don’t get offended, they rise up. And that’s what this email is about: challenging you to do more and be more. That’s what I’m about. That’s part of my role.

The point is, opportunity is EVERYWHERE. It’s your job to capitalize on it.

And we’re here to help you with that.

2009 in two weeks. Man oh man. Time. It flies.

Cheers,
Eric

P.S. Speaking of opportunity, some BIG news and BIG opportunity coming your way next week. Stay tuned.

P.P.S. If you have experience with www.MeetUp.com, we’d all love to hear about it. Post your comments to the blog by clicking the “comments” link below.

The best fitness business gift ever (and it doesn’t cost a thing)

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

Brandy and I just got back from Miami late last night. We were down there for our final NPE Platinum Mastermind session of 2008. Work ended on Saturday eve, but we hung around for a couple more days of South Beach fun.

Saturday night, Brandy and I planned on going out to dinner at Danny Devito’s restaurant, then meeting Platinum Member and Miami resident Dave Dubail at the Delano for drinks before we headed over to Mansion, one of the “hot” South Beach clubs for late night dancing.

The best laid plans…

Back in the day, I used to live for the night life. I majored in partying in college, and the momentum carried onward for (too) many years afterward.

Maybe that’s why I’ve just run out of gas.

By 7pm on Saturday, I had to call Dave and cancel our meet at Delano’s cause I was already starting to think about how inviting the big bed at the Mondrian hotel was looking.

We managed to make it to Devito’s (good food, snobby waiters, ridiculous prices), but after the lobster ravioli and a glass of wine…I was done.

Pooped - running on empty.

We were back at the hotel and in the rack by 10:30. No Mansion, no dancing, no South Beach partying.

I know…boring!

What can I say? A good night’s sleep is more exciting to me these days than…well, just about anything.

Call me ‘geezer.’

Anyway, the next morning over breakfast Brandy I were talking about her biz. She was telling me how slammed she is with all the administrative stuff she has to do as a one-woman show.

I told her to get an admin assistant and DELEGATE that stuff away.

Her reaction, just like almost everyone who considers this option for the first time…

TOO EXPENSIVE.

Wrong.

All too often, the first thing that comes to mind is “cost.” But if you really crunch the numbers and think accurately about this decision, you’ll see it’s clearly an investment.

As the rainmaker in her biz, Brandy’s primary responsibility is generating sales. Same for you.

But how can you do that - how can you find the time to do the marketing, innovating and selling necessary to grow - when you’re forever slammed with administrative tasks?

You can’t.

Not enough time in the day.

So the answer is to get help: to hire or outsource the admin.

15 hours/week at 12-15 bucks/hr = 180-225 bucks/week.

720-1000 bucks/month.

That’s less than one new client.

Do you think you could figure out how to get just one more client a month if you had 60 more hours to work ON your biz every month?

That’s a full week+ of time…EVERY MONTH…you’d free up for public speaking, publicity, building strategic alliances, etc.

This is how you dig yourself out of the muck. This is how you “drain the swamp” - as Dick says.

And it’s the best gift you could ever give yourself.

If you really, truly want to make 2009 your biggest and best year ever, then give yourself the gift of TIME. Hire yourself an administrative assistant. It will pay for itself within 30 days and become one of the wisest investments you ever make within 90-120 days.

We hear this from EVERYONE who goes through our DUPLICATOR Fitness Business Management program.

They all say, “I wish I’d hired an admin sooner.”

And in today’s economy, with so many folks layed off, the talent pool is HUGE out there. You can get really sharp people dirt cheap.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah,
Eric Ruth

P.S. We’ve got another KILLER gift idea for you coming next week. Until then, I’d love to hear your thoughts about hiring/working with an admin. If you’ve got questions about how to do it, or some best practice advice to share with your fellow fit-pros, post your comments to the blog below (just click on the link that says “comments”):

Mastermind in Miami

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Today Eric and I are down in Miami for 2 days of meetings with our Platinum clients.

Weather is good here and I’m looking out over Key Biscayne as we speak.

This will be our 3rd meeting of the year with the Platinum group, and I’m looking forward to hearing all about what each of them has accomplished since the last time we got together.

Having these regular meetings (3x year) has tremendous power in helping everyone accelerate their growth, overcome challenges, and hit their goals.

If you’ve never participated in a Mastermind Group, I’ll tell you that the experience is life changing.

All kinds of exciting things happen (that you could have never forseen) when you put yourself in a room with other high level people all focused on helping each other grow.

You get challenged.

You get support and encouragement.

And you’re held accountable for the actions you have (or have not) taken in achieving your goals.

Whatever you’re doing today or this weekend, here’s a good exercise for to complete:

Take out a blank sheet of paper and a pen.

Then write down the following 3 questions and give yourself 20 minutes to answer them:

1. What has been your biggest ‘breakthrough’ this past year?

2. What obstacles/challenges do you continue to run up against in working towards your goals?

3. What actions can you take to overcome those challenges and how can you move forward, faster, in achievement of your goals?

Then when you’ve finished this exercise, take some time to review and reflect on your answers this weekend.

The answers to those questions will help you tremendously in accelerating your growth in the year ahead.

To your success,
Sean

P.S. If you’re a Gold Plus member (or higher) do this exercise, then post it to the forum on the member site. I’ll check the forum over the weekend and will give you any feedback you’d like on your answers.

If you’re NOT a NPE Gold Plus member yet, then get on over to:

and join us for a ‘virtual’ mastermind meeting this weekend.
